The Physical Education Department is committed to giving all pupils at Marston Vale Middle School knowledge of, and experience in, a wide variety of activities in accordance with the National Curriculum. We believe that, not only is the acquisition of understanding and skill in games and movement of paramount importance, but that today's lifestyle demands physical fitness and a positive approach to decision-making.
Competing is fun as well as character building. However, a sense of fair play, tolerance and co-operation are equally important attributes which we seek to encourage in the children.
Our facilities are excellent. The Sports Hall has a full-sized basketball and netball court; three badminton courts; volleyball court; five-aside pitch and two cricket nets. The floor is sprung to reduce impact injuries. The Sports Hall also has a camera facility for enhancing pupil progress.
Inter-Form competitions are held in many activities. Matches against other schools are played regularly and we are proud of our overall success. Many of our teams have achieved excellent results in leagues, tournaments and other events. However, the main aims for pupils of this age are enjoyment, the desire to continually improve - win or lose, and the ability to accept winning or losing gracefully as part of that search for continuous improvement.
We value greatly the contribution of parents in supporting, maintaining, funding, transporting, cheering, consoling and praising their children in all they do in their sporting activities.
