As required by legislation, RE is provided in all schools for all pupils. Bedfordshire has its own, well established, Agreed Syllabus for RE and our Syllabus at Marston Vale follows this scheme. The course contains elements which are based upon traditional Christianity-based material, and moves on to include elements of comparative study of other world religions. Our approach is non-doctrinal, and encourages pupils to respect and explore different beliefs in order to make judgements in a reflective and questioning manner.
Pupils are taught in mixed ability classes, the curriculum being delivered using a variety of approaches and teaching styles to make RE an interesting and exciting subject. Parents may withdraw their child from Religious Education. However, parents wishing to exercise this right on religious grounds, should arrange to discuss the matter with the Headteacher before making a formal request for withdrawal.
